As a photography educator, I’ve had the pleasure of working with some truly amazing companies and clients all around the globe. It’s through those travels, that I’ve had the ability to see the inner workings of some truly innovative corporations, but none as uniquely dedicated as EIZO. Let me begin by saying that while I appreciate innovative technology, it’s the brilliant minds behind those products that captures my attention.
As a small business owner myself, I know how difficult it can be to remain innovative, while simultaneously maintaining day-to-day activities. It takes a special blend of talent, intellect and management in order to sustain that delicate balance. During my time at the EIZO headquarters, in Kanazawa, Japan, I found a deep respect and appreciation for the company behind the quality products that I’ve come to know and love.
During a short day trip to Kanazawa, Mark Gorsuch, the Manager of Overseas Marketing was kind enough to spend his morning touring me around the Kanazawa and we discussed the history of the EIZO Corporation, its’ foundation, its’ core fundamental values and EIZO’s vision for the future of it’s company. These principals, established 48 years ago, have been the foundation for the why so many tenured employees have been employed by EIZO for decades. Mark had mentioned just how committed the company was to its employees and how the company itself fostered personal growth within the company.
During this day trip to the EIZO HQ, I was toured around their manufacturing, research and training facilities. Each department part of a symbiosis of productivity and development. The company invests in countless hours to train each and every employee to ensure the most reliable products possible. Every monitor is hand crafted from start to finish with dozens of eyes validating that each monitor leaves the facility at optimum performance and quality.
After sitting with the team that developed the ColorEdge technology, I had a chance to see, just how ambitious each engineer was to improve on their technology. I was introduced to the next line of ColorEdge technology, one that they had yet to release, but were already working on improving. This is the type of innovation and quality that the photography community deserves and it’s the biggest reason why I’m proud to say that I’ve established a relationship with such a great company.
